Our recent trip to Rajastan was full of inspiration, oven-like heat.....and mangoes! The colour of the markets and the saris were incredible, and you'll soon see that we've added these glorious brights in to our SS13 collection.
We even stumbled upon an Indian Wedding at our hotel one night, needless to say we were adding embroidery and sequins to just about everything the next day.Colour, print, sparkle....we were in heaven!
We started every morning with Yoga and then had a day long sauna in the 46 degree heat (yes, really!) where we tried new samples, sourced fabrics, drank chai and fine tuned print colourways. It's always exciting to see a collection come together, and this time we loved sharing snippets of it with you via Facebook and Twitter.
We were thrilled with how the Peacock Woodblock turned out and couldn't resist putting a snap on Instagram...and you seemed to all love it too!
Vicky took a trip to the village of Bagru to see the woodblock printing in action. The wood is hand carved and then used to print with such precision, it's a real treat to see it in action and we at Nomads are so happy to help keep this skill alive. We've still got a few woodblock print dresses left from SS12 so grab them whilst you can.
I had hours of fun in Pushkar sifting through hundreds of vintage saris, so beautiful that I did a little display of them...see the colour wheel below. We've got big plans for these saris so watch this space.
Now back in the UK (Niki in London, Vicky in Cornwall) we're still waiting for news of rain from Jaipur and all that's left to do is sit and wait for the parcels of tie dye tunics, maxi skirts, wide leg trousers, woodblock dresses, summer jackets and pretty tunics to arrive.
Can't wait for you to all see the finished results when the Spring Collection comes out in January!
