Raw cacao balls recipe
These little balls of goodness will give you an energy boost when 4pm comes round and there's still so much to do/you want to relax with a new novel, tea and sweet treat.
Raw balls are fantastic for energy levels and they taste like little gooey chocolate brownies. It's the cacao powder that creates the intense chocolatey flavour. Raw cacao includes antioxidants that are great for the heart and cardiovascular system as a whole – so it's benefiical to your health. One of the best things about the raw balls, apart from their flavour and health qualities, is that you can add almost anything you like to them. Nuts, seeds, dessicated coconut, dried cranberries, raisins, ground flax seed, hemp protein powder – the list goes on. They all combine to create a beautiful flavour. They also only take a few minutes to make – a big bonus.
You will need: (This is just what we have done here, but feel free to add or take away as you please)
- One cup of medjool dates
- One cup of raisins and mixed nuts
- Two tablespoons of chia seeds
- One tablesppon of raw cacao powder (this is quiet expensive for the tub - around £6 - but it lasts a very long time and can be added to a whole host of recipes. We have had our tub for six months and make these balls ALL the time!)
- Two tablespoons of agave dark syrup (you could also use coconut oil)
Blend the dry ingredients first in a mixer, before adding the dates and agave syrup to form a sticky paste. Once completely blended, roll into balls and place on a tray before popping them in the fridge to store for devouring when you desire.
