The Twelve months of Nomads…

Wow… another twelve months have swiftly passed us by, and we can’t quite believe it is that wonderful festive time of year again.  We see December as a special month of reflection. With Winter Solstice celebrations marking such an important time of year, we thought we would share our journey of 2017 with you. We would also like to thank you all for your continuing support, it means the world to us.

January is super exciting for us at Nomads. It was even more so this year as it was time for the arrival of Kate’s very first collection for us. Our brilliant warehouse team handle hundreds of packages all the way from Delhi and Jaipur each season and carefully make sure all our stock arrives safely and in one piece. Then the mammoth task of unpacking and sorting starts until we can reveal it to you all. As a team we check the new arrivals by hand to ensure the best quality reaches you. We always get our staff orders in early and must make sure we don’t wear the same things as each other every day. Duncan and Vicky popped to Germany to check out potential new ethical trade shows to be part of too.

February is our sales team’s busiest month. James, Shallon and I work our socks off with our warehouse team to ensure our independent stockists receive their Spring orders in time for the new season to be released. The whole team and I head to London to showcase our next seasons range and to meet potential new boutiques. It is a whirlwind of fun and laughter catching up with our customers and friends. James and I also head over to Birmingham for another trade show after London.

Kate and Vicky head to India twice a year to work alongside our Indian colleagues, check the conditions of our manufacturers and meet to improve our collection. They also visit the markets of Rajasthan to seek inspiration for the next collection. I stay behind and start new research on colour, trends and print ready for Kate’s return and her next collection. Kate took a little time off after their busy work trip and managed to be part of the Holi festival of colour for the first time.

April was a huge month for us. We became part of the huge movement ‘Fashion Revolution’ which takes place at the same time the tragic Rana Plaza factory collapse occurred, where 1,138 people were killed and even more injured on the 24th April 2014.

May was an absolute treat for Kate and me. We gathered up our Spring Summer 2018 collection (arriving in February) and jetted off to Playa de Moraira for three days to shoot our dreamy Spring campaign. We were surrounded by vast open mountains, sandy beaches and jaw dropping cacti. The light was bright and golden and perfect for our shoot. We couldn’t have asked for a better team either. Our model Elina has a stunning new look and we can’t wait for you to see our new range.

In June we had a Nomads first… Claire, our lovely graphic designer had a beautiful little boy called Levi and he is totally scrumptious. We had an office competition on his weight and birthday too. Vicky guessed Levi’s birthday and our photographer, Simon guessed Levi’s weight. We are over the moon for Claire however we want her to come back already

In July I celebrated the wonderful images that we have seen across our social media platforms of you all. I shared our favourites in a blog post and would love to continue to still receive your photographs. They make us do a little happy dance each time we receive one.

August crept up on us and it was time for the sales team to get back out selling our next collection to all our lovely clients. Did you know that we have four fabulous agents across the UK, a wonderful German agent as well as new team in Switzerland? We had another successful and exciting time in both the London and Birmingham shows too.

Kate and Vicky head back to India each September. This trip was very exciting for them both because they went to visit our newest manufacturers based in the south-east coast of Pondicherry. Did you know that it is about to be awarded a Fair-Trade town status which is the first in India? Kate and Vicky loved Pondicherry for its clean air and its heritage. How delightful are these tile that Kate and Vicky discovered whilst exploring?

Kates gorgeous Autumn Winter 2017 collection was flying off our shelves by October. Kates attention to detail and magical eye enhanced her second collection and made it a stand out range for us. The handloom coats and new shape additions have been very well received. Did you catch our fashion film? This was another first for us and something we are very proud of. We filmed it back in 2016 in a gorgeous location on the Moors.

By the time we reached November it was time to shoot our Autumn winter 2018 campaign. The pretty little harbour town of Mousehole was a delight to shoot in. We hired out a magnificent house and we were blessed with beautiful natural light again. Our gorgeous model Gin was super professional and looked stunning in our collection. Plus, it was wonderful to reunite with our Photographer and creative team again.

This month we have had the divine Sarah start with us who has recently graduated with a degree in Surface Pattern Design. She was such a brilliant intern we just had to keep her on board. Sarah will be working closely in design with Kate and Shallon in our sales team.
